Double manual harpsichord after "Michael Mietke, circa 1700" Listen to the sound of this harpsichord The duke of Köthen ordered a double manual harpsichord from Michael Mietke; between 1718 and 1719 Bach followed the construction of this instrument and it is for this reason that the name of the german builder is associated with that of Bach. Very few Mietke harpsichords survive; here, the copy of the only double manual instrument by the builder is presented. This instrument owns the complex tone that many scholars believe to be particularly proper for Bach's repertoire. The original harpsichord is kept at the Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin. On request I can supply an elegant stand with turned legs, and a painted case and lid with Chinoiserie.
